We are often all too busy rushing around in our daily lives, meeting deadlines and more often than not seeing to other people's needs.
Before we realise it the day has long gone and dawn is on the horizon.
And our routine begins again.
Outlined below are some easy tips for Meditation, beginning with body awareness and the breath.
Find a quiet place, somewhere that you enjoy being.
Try to make this place your own personal space, somewhere that you can escape to each day.
Start with 5 minutes and try to build up to 20 minutes.
Educate your family into accepting that this is your time and you don't want to be disturbed.
Find a comfortable chair that you can sit in with your back straight and your feet firmly on the floor.
Turn off the phone.
Burn some aromatherapy oil or light a candle to set the atmosphere.
Close your eyes and start to relax.
As you breathe in through your nose visualize all the tensions of the day leaving your body through the out breath.
If you have any tensions in your body bring your awareness to that spot and imagine the tension slowly dissolving away.
Continue with focusing on your body and your breath until you feel really relaxed and peaceful.
Any thoughts you might have, allow the thought to be present and then let the thought gently go.
Go back to concentrating on the breath, in through the nose and out through the mouth.
When you are ready to come out of your meditation, start counting from one to ten slowly keeping your head lowered. After ten minutes open your eyes slowly focusing your eyes on your hands lying calmly in your lap. Raise your head slowly and bring yourself back to the consciousness of the room.
This is the beginning of a journey and each time you practise you will get better at it.
5 minutes will eventually merge into 10, 15 and then 20.
You will find your own timescale and way of meditating.
There are many different types of meditation. I use a mantra and have had great sucess in achieving unbounded energy and clarity of thought using this technique.
