The brain consists of two hemispheres, the left hemisphere and the right
hemisphere.
The left hemisphere deals with the logical aspect of thinking and the right hemisphere deals with the artistic and creative aspect of thinking.
Throughout our normal day we experience a wide range of different states of mind. Each mind state is associated with different frequencies.
During normal waking hours when you are carrying out physical work or engaging in normal activities your brainwaves will be in the beta range. This is a within a frequency of 13 to 30 herz.
When you are relaxed your brainwaves will slow into the alpha range. This is within a frequency of 7 to 13 herz.
And when you are dreaming , or just falling asleep your brainwaves will have slowed down even further into the theta range. This is within a frequency of 3 to 7 herz.
When you are in a deep sleep or in a meditative state you will be in the delta range. This is within 0.1 to 3 herz.
Beta brainwaves are dominant during a normal day and generally the higher the brainwave frequency the more stressed and tense you will become. People working in high stressed jobs will have higher brain frequencies.
Above is a video of brain activity. The patterns show how neurons fire in clustered bursts of activity instead of in spirals or waves. For more info CLICK HERE
Balancing the beta with the alpha brainwave, associated with relaxation prevents the build up of stress.
Alpha brainwaves are dominant when you are relaxed or when you are meditating.
Alpha rhythms stimulate the release of pleasure neurochemicals called endorphins, dopamine and norepinephrine.
Theta brainwaves are ideal for creativity. When we are daydreaming we are in a theta state. Children find it easier to relax into this state than adults do. They day dream a lot and this is one of the reasons children learn quicker than adults.
By engaging in the process of being creative you are functioning in a frequency that will substantially advance your creative potential and prevent the build up of stress.
